The costs involved in moving into an aged care community can be a little complicated. The government offers subsidies to everyone; however, you may need to contribute more towards the cost of your care if you can afford it.

Care Costs

Basic daily fee

All aged care residents, including short-term respite residents, pay a basic daily fee. This contributes to day-to-day living costs such as meals, cleaning and laundry. The maximum daily fee for all residents is 85% of the basic single age pension. When you enter an aged care community you’ll receive a letter from the Department of Human Services confirming your maximum basic daily fee.

Means-tested care fee

Fulltime aged care residents may also be required to pay an additional contribution based on an assessment of their income and assets. There are annual and lifetime caps for this contribution and any income-tested fees you may have previously paid towards home care count towards this cap.

Accommodation costs at Hillside

Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD)

Each aged care room in Australia has its own RAD price. Your RAD is a lump-sum accommodation payment, which is fully refundable when you leave. You have the option to pay the RAD either in full or a smaller deposit amount combined with a Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP). The more you are able to pay up front, the less your DAP will be.

Rooms in The Heritage Residence:

The 17 private en suite rooms in our Heritage building offer direct access to an expansive veranda and private seating areas. Classically proportioned, they feature traditional timber finishes, high ceilings and large windows. Maximum RAD: $500,000

Rooms in the Modern Residence

Our new building offers contemporary private en suite rooms across three floors, with views over the gardens or towards the coast.

Single rooms
• With view over the gardens – Maximum RAD: $500,000
• With balcony and expansive views – Maximum RAD: $600,000

Couples rooms (or can be used as extra-large single accommodation)
• Premium room with private terrace – Maximum RAD : $800,000

Extra Services

Our Hallmark package of Extra Services come as standard at Hillside. This includes but is not limited to:
• large rooms with premium quality furnishings
• à-la-carte menus and a glass of wine with your meal
• Flat-screen TV in your room with Foxtel
• Daily newspapers and a selection of magazines

Premium services

Our optional premium services are available to purchase in addition to your Hallmark Extra Services package.

These include, but are not limited to:
• Assistance with shopping and other excursions
• Physiotherapy and massage beyond your care plan
• Daily newspaper delivery
• A personal chambermaid service
